Joint venture to help at-risk youth

Jun 12, 2015

A new partnership between Peel Health Campus and Mandurah Performing Arts Centre aims to help at-risk youth in the region.

Under the collaboration Peel Health Campus will support three selected performances in 2015. The first being 360 ALLSTARS – an ‘urban circus’ show which was performed at the centre in May. The collaboration extends to Storm Boy and Head Full of Love in later in the year.

The champion athletes and renowned musicians performing in 360 ALLSTARS means the show is appealing to young audiences. Peel Health Campus’ sponsorship has helped fund linkages with local schools, including student workshops at Coodanup, Pinjarra and Waroona Schools, delivered by a circus and music teacher. This initiative aims to foster youth engagement and promote wellbeing.

Performing Arts Centre general manager Guy Boyce said that the support provided by Peel Health Campus, meant students learnt a whole range of new physical skills.

Hospital CEO Dr Margaret Sturdy said collaborating with MPAC reflects Ramsay Health Care’s commitment to contribute to the community.

“We’re extremely proud to part of this healthy cultural partnership,” said Margaret.
