Community Kick-Start grant scheme to bolster Peel community

• Peel Health Campus launches special COVID-19 recovery grants scheme,
• Designed to help Peel-Murray community groups, events and organisations get back on their feet,
• Driven by Ramsay Health Care’s philosophy of “people caring for people.”
Peel Health Campus (PHC), which is part of Ramsay Health Care, is launching a new community grants program to support local organisations to get back on their feet following the impact of COVID-19.
Called “Community Kick-Start” the grants scheme will provide one-off payments of up to $1000 for community groups, clubs, events and organisations that need a helping hand to get back up and operating.
PHC Chief Executive Officer Andrew Tome said the new scheme had been inspired by the community support provided to the hospital during the emerging stages of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Our staff were blown away by the words of kindness and support they received from the community while we were dealing with the early uncertain stages of COVID-19,” Mr Tome said.
“Peel-Murray people have a track record of community-mindedness. Our paediatric ward was entirely paid for by donations largely from the Peel-Murray community, and our hospital is supported by dedicated volunteers who make it a welcoming place.
“Clubs, organisations and events help build community connection and support people’s mental health and wellbeing. Community Kick-Start scheme is just one way we can give back and recognise that.”
Mr Tome said grants could go towards repairs, to support organisations to make adjustments to accommodate COVID-19 distancing measures, help with equipment, or support the Peel-Murray community.
Applications open during the month of October and recipients will be announced in November.
