Peel Health Campus wins best float in Mandurah Christmas Pageant

Dec 12, 2019

Peel Health Campus (PHC) was awarded first prize in this year’s Mandurah Christmas Pageant for its float modelled on “An Australian Christmas”.

Sand, water, surfboards, thongs, crab nets, towels…even a burnt turkey formed part of the set, which also featured a handful of PHC staff dressed in Aussie summer clothes.

PHC Director of Clinical Services, Karol Edge, who was on the organisational committee for the float, said planning started as early as July 2019.

“Once we all voted on the theme, detailed planning started with different production tasks allocated to staff who were keen to participate,” Ms Edge said.

“We had staff from all over the hospital help,” she said. “It was a real team effort.”

PHC Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Tome, said the hospital had participated in the Christmas Pageant for the past four years.

“Our staff love community events, but there is no doubt the Christmas Pageant is one of their favourites,” Mr Tome said.

Mr Tome said a huge amount of work went into the production of the float with staff giving up their spare time to help.

“There was certainly plenty of excitement when we won,” he said. “I was so happy for the staff that their hard work paid off.”
