Peel Pavement Pounders
Dec 16, 2015
After the recent earthquake in Nepal, Peel Health Campus Clinical Maternity Manager Jemma Freegard decided she wanted to do something to help. Jemma set up the Peel Pavement Pounders - an amazing group of staff that joined forces to raise funds to provide birth kits and shelter boxes for women in Nepal. Currently 12 women and 75 babies die each day in Nepal due to complications of childbirth.
During November the team members ran 16km a week, totalling 1275 km for the month and raising just over $4,000.
Director of Clinical Services, Di Barr said the staff were truly amazing and a credit to the organisation.
